Fall in Mountain House feels a little like magic. The air is crisp, the days are shorter, and everywhere you look, something’s happening.
This issue of Community Connection is packed with stories from a powerful night at Fire Station No. 2 to a morning filled with pancakes and laughter, we’re reminded that what makes our city special isn’t just the events, it’s the people who show up for them.
You’ll also find upcoming opportunities to connect, share feedback, and get involved, whether that’s at the It Takes a Village Utility Community Forum, our Veterans Day Luncheon, or the Halloween festivities that turn Town Hall into a celebration of community spirit. Thanks for being part of what makes Mountain House a place we’re all proud to call home.

Coffee with a Cop — and a Cup for a Horse
There’s just something special about slowing down, grabbing a cup of coffee, and having a real conversation. This month’s Coffee with a Cop brought neighbors, officers, and community members together in the best way possible. Laughter, stories, and smiles filled the morning.
It reminded us that strong communities are built on simple, everyday connections.
And speaking of connections—turns out, officers aren’t the only ones who enjoy a caffeine stop! Our Mounted Patrol made a quick detour for a “horse-sized” treat at the drive-thru. Let’s just say this four-legged officer neighed his approval.

A Night to Remember at Fire Station No. 2
On Thursday, October 2, the crowd fell quiet as each name was called. One by one, our newest firefighters stepped forward—Jared Loschek, Alexander Nand, Joseph Espinosa, and Jack Vallo—ready to serve and protect the community they now call their own. Pride filled the room, not just from the team but from every neighbor who came to cheer them on.
The evening grew even more meaningful as we celebrated the promotion of Engineer Frank Bettencourt—a reminder that hard work and heart never go unnoticed. And just when everyone thought the night couldn’t get any better, Moose trotted up—our newest four-legged recruit with the personality of a seasoned firefighter and the heart of a true public servant.

Pancake Breakfast: Stacks of Smiles
You could smell it before you saw it, the warm syrup, the buttery pancakes, the laughter echoing through the crowd. The annual Mountain House Fire Department Pancake Breakfast was a reunion of neighbors, families, and friends coming together for a cause that matters.
Outside, children climbed into bright red fire engines, eyes wide with wonder as they sat in the driver’s seat of real Mountain House Fire trucks. The Junior Firefighter Zone turned learning into laughter, as kids aimed water hoses at “burning” cardboard houses, discovering firsthand what it’s like to be part of the team that keeps our city safe.
Inside, creativity came to life. A special art display featured student posters from the Fire Prevention Week Art Contest, each one bursting with color, care, and imagination. From the breakfast tables to the safety demonstrations, the day was filled with moments that remind us why Mountain House is so special.
